The Twilight Turtle Nightlight is one of the cutest inventions I’ve seen; it looks like a pretty little purple turtle but it’s a night light in disguise. A night light where you can change the glowing colors from green, to blue, or amber depending on the mood you want your toddler in. Although you can squeeze it like a Gloworm to make it light up it’s more than that, it transforms your bedroom in to the night sky with 8 different starry constellations.

If your children are a afraid of the dark or hesitant about going to sleep at night with the light off the twilight turtle is like have two toys in one, a night light and a fuzzy friend to help them fall asleep at night.  Depending on the effect you want to give you can place the turtle in a stationary place so it can illuminate the room for up to 45 minutes, or hang upside down, it has 3 levels of color brightness you should be able to adapt it to any situation. Although it looks like a plushie toy  it does have a projector inside the shell, so you should not use it as a pillow, if your children play with it during the day make sure they are gentle.

My Review for the the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet (green)  is a highly educational yet contagiously fun learning system. The five inch touch screen is perfect for small hands and kids can use the stylus pen or their fingers to play games. The LeapPad comes in green shown or pink

The LeapPad Explorer will help teach your child reading, math, science, art, music and culture. Once you setup your child’s profile online you can track their usage and see how they’re progressing.

The games are educational which will put your mind at ease while your child is playing, You get 4 apps included with purchase however, you will need to register the LeapPad Learning Tablet before use, so you can download your 3 free apps (you pick the 4th) that come with all LeapPads these apps are Pet Pad, Story Studio and Art Studio. If by chance you have a Leapfrog Leapster Explorer you can use those games as the cartridges will fit into your leappad.

 

One plus about the downloadable apps is you can use them on 2 LeapPads so if you have two children you won’t have to pay twice for the same game. You will find that the leap pad has advertisements for other games built in so unless you want to hear Mommy or Daddy can I have this game continuously, you will want to turn this feature off in the setup process.

With more than 100 educational games (sold separately and range 5.00 – 20.00 dollars), a built in camera that can shoot video a handy picture and video app already installed you can hardly go wrong.

Folks seem to praise the LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet but are disappointed in the set up process, nearly all that have purchased mention you should take this product of the box and set up before you give to your child especially if the leap pad is a gift. The box will be destroyed so you may want to pack it in another box or pretty bag. The setup process takes up to 2 hours and you will need to hook it to your computer first thing; the LeapPad doesn’t come pre-loaded with the apps.

Another area of sensitivity seems to be the batteries… apparently this toy eats them up fairly quickly so you should get rechargeable batteries or buy an additional adapter and save some grief. If you are traveling in the car long distance take a spare set of batteries just in case needed.

The manufacturer recommends ages 4 to 9 to use this product if your younger child (2 1/2 -3ish) has been using your iPad or smart phone successfully then you may want to get them this toy and show them how to use it. However, I would def leave the stylus pen out for safety reasons and the screen will be less likely to get scratched.

Summary
All in all the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet has good reviews as far usage fun and entertaining apps children really seem to like the system plus you can use the Leapster Explorer games if you have bought previously.

The drawback the time spent setting up the leapfrog and the excessive battery usage which can be overcome with rechargeable batteries or an ac adapter for the home.

Not just for kids, grownups love flying the Syma s107 RC helicopter because it’s fun and so simple even for beginners. The Syma s107 is a mini helicopter about 7 inches long and it will fit right in the palm your hand, (the pictures make it look bigger) the gyro has a short learning curve and you should be up and flying in no time at all.

The lightweight body makes it easy to fly high yet durable enough that crashes it gets up and goes again.

With 3 channels you can move your controller up, down, left, right, and forward or backwards independently. This allows you to mimic real helicopter movements like hovering and taking off and landing. The gyroscope makes it easier to maneuver and more fun to fly compared to other RC helicopters like Air Hogs according to owners of both. The flashing LED lights make you feel as though you are watching a full sized heli right in front of your eyes.

The RC helicopter is for use in the house only, it is recommended not to fly outside at all, if you must you should avoid it altogether if it is windy. You should also turn off your air conditioner (window unit) or don’t fly near it, you should also turn off your ceiling fans so it doesn’t get wobbly or sucked up into the fan because of the small size.

Syma s107 charging
The Syma s107 has two options for charging using the USB and plugging the helicopter right into your computer or using AA batteries (6) placed into the controller. Another benefit of having a USB cable means you can charge at your computer, game console or any other place you have a USB port.

You need to charge the Syma s107 RCg helicopter for at least 30 – 45 minutes before your first use. The Syma s107 flies for 4 to 10 minutes on a single charge. Another tip from current Syma s107 owners is to let the motor cool down before recharging for another flight. If you are able consider buying two Syma helicopters so you can get more flight time in.

Also don’t leave the toy charging overnight when using the usb cord. The manufacturer recommends removing the RC helicopter when it has finished charging so you won’t overcharge the battery, doing so may shorten the life of the battery. You’ll know to do this it has an indicator light for convenience.

All in all this would make great toy for young and old alike, generally the reviews an amazon.com were very positive with a few mixed in mostly defective parts which is possible when you buy any items. Amazon has a top notch return policy. As with all radio controlled toys safety is important do try not to hit anyone with the blades of course, or chase the pets with it! This makes a greater starter gift for those considering entering the hobby of RC (radio controlled) toys.
